We supplied equipment rental on a commercial job in Indiana. The equipment was damaged and we have billed them almost 10K in result. Can that amount be included in the lien? I did review the Indiana lien law faqs, but it was vague on this topic.
IndianaI was subcontracted to build a bathroom in Indiana in a County coroner's office. I haven't been paid and the GC stopped responding to me. Ho owes me $5000 for this and 900 between 2 other overdue balances for him. I have not allowed to retrieve tools and supplies that are mine. It has been two months since I was allowed there.
IndianaI am a subcontractor who worked for 8 months on several properties for an owner/realtor. There was never a contract. I sent in invoices for each property and he showed up once a week and had me sign a partial check and handed me cash. I did sign a W9 Tax form in the beginning. My Invoices equal $29,000 and he only paid me $16,000 total. Now he has let me go without paying the remaining of the invoices. How can I go about this getting paid.

TexasHello, We are trying to get more info about the process of filing a lien on a home. We are a subcontractor that was hired by a contractor to do work on a home. The contractor has been paid in full by the homeowner but the contractor has not paid us. He was past 180 days over due. When we file a lien do we need to put the homeowners name or contractor? A few things to add: When we started the project we did NOT have the contractor sign any agreement (mistake on our part I know) We do have proof of the work completed such as pictures,texts , and emails. The GC has stated he was paid in full so we know that.

We haven't filed a right to lien and our first day out there was March 22nd.
WashingtonA homeowner doesn’t want us to work on her flooring anymore due to her believing it should be done how she sees fit. We have completed half the work. The total amount for labor not including materials was 3500. She paid 1152 upfront as our required deposit. Since she has technically fired us, we are still owed the remainder of labor that has been done. Are we able to file a lien in order to secure the payment if she refuses to pay? She has been one of the most difficult customers we have ever dealt with.
South CarolinaHad historic written quotes from a contractor of $2500 for porch and $3500 for under the house. Earlier this month we had the contractor out to give us current quote to include a little work on the garage in addition to the work on the 2 historic quotes. He quoted a total of $7000 for all 3. He completed the garage but told use the work under the house he was unable to do and that he expected us to pay $6500 for the porch and the garage. The porch is still not complete and he now wants $4700 for the work he has done and that amount does not include any further work. We have offered $3500 as a very fair amount for the work that has been done (even though not complete). He is threatening a lien. What are our options other than of course paying the full $7000.
LouisianaI filed a lien back in July and my time is coming up to enforce my lien. I’m afraid that if I don’t enforce my lien that I won’t ever get paid for the job I worked on and the materials that I paid for.
CaliforniaSigned a contract for a fence, paid 1/2 of the amount as a down payment. It's been 6 months and nothing was installed yet. They cancelled installation twice due to no materials. Now the phone number doesn't even go to the office, all i get is this user's voicemail is not set up. Not answering emails. i will dispute the cc charge for the deposit since i can't reach them. Can they place a lien on the property if i do that?
Floridalevelset says In Louisiana, anyone who contracts with the owner for more than $100,000 must file a Notice of Contract before the delivery of materials or labor to the project.
an upset client whom we placed a lien on, directed us to websites that say "In order to secure lien rights, prior to beginning work, all general contractors must file a Notice of Contract, signed by the Owner, unless the general contractor's contract amount is less than $25,000.00. "
I need to know who is correct and why there is a disparity. Is one outdated ? Is one taken out of context?
LouisianaWhen a title company is processing a property sale that has a lien against it, will they contact the vendor to find out if late fees, interest, or other add-ons need to be paid off in addition to the initial amount?
If further work is done and further liability by the owner is incurred, does an additional lien need to be filed or can the amount just be added when the lien is being paid off?

IllinoisGood day, we are a company in FL who built Indoor Pool Dehumidification Systems (mechanical hvac). We sold a system to the rep firm in Illinois who then sold it to the mechanical and then mechanical sells to the Hotel. We've been trying to get paid since May 30th and there is no response from anyone as to the final balance for this equipment.Can we file a lien against the hotel where the equipment is installed? If so is it considered a Mechanics Lien or is there one for "SUPPLIERS" that is different.
