Can I file a mechanic lien?

IllinoisMechanics Lien

I'm a general contractor and I would like to know if I can still submit a mechanic lien for this project. Last day we were at this property was in 4/8/2021.

Illinois law permits a General Contractor to foreclose a Mechanics Lien up to 2 years following the last day of work. Based on the date stated in your question, you should not have a problem. Keep in mind that you have a Mechanics Lien for unpaid work in place, regardless of whether you file a Notice of Lien. Consult a construction lawyer to prepare and file a Notice of Lien or, in the alternative, to file a Complaint to Foreclose your lien.

I hope this information was helpful. Best of luck.

Yes you can. A general contractor has 2 years from the last date of work to file a lien. No 90-day notice is required. However, if recorded more than 4 months from the last work, the lien can only be enforced against the owner.
