North Carolina subcontractors and suppliers can obtain a copy of their project's payment bond by providing a written request to the project's prime contractor, pursuant to § 44A‑27 of the state's Little Miller Act. The request must generally be sent by certified mail to the contractor's regular place of business. Upon receiving a written request, the contractor must give a copy of the bond to the party who requested it within 7 days of receiving the request.
Note that § 44A‑27actually prescribes the form of that request. So, someone who's looking for a copy of the bond on a North Carolina public works project can typically (more or less) copy and paste that information and have a template for requesting bond info.
