I filed a Mechanics Lien against the property that the work was performed, and I need to know when the lien expires?

Good question! In California, once a mechanics lien is filed, the lien must be enforced within 90 days from the date of the lien filing. If a lien enforcement action is not filed within that 90 days, the lien will expire. Note, though, that California is one of the few states where it's possible to extend a mechanics lien. That is: In California, if the claimant and owner agree to extend the time for enforcing a lien claim, they may extend the lien. However, the lien may only be extended for 1 year after the completion of the work of improvement.
