What is the prevailing wage rate for a laborer for 2020

CaliforniaPrevailing Wages

Hi there, I just started my construction company this year and have always worked on privates projects. I'm working on a federal project for the first time Rio Hondo College and I'm trying to figure out what's the prevailing wage rate for a Laborer. If you can please help me out I would really appreciate, once I get this information I can let my payroll company know what rate to put for my employees. Thank you, David L.

Publicly owned universities will typically be state projects rather than federal ones - so, it'd be crucial to first determine whether the federal prevailing wage rules apply or the California prevailing wage rules. With that being said, reaching out to your customer for some insight on what the project's prevailing wage rates are might be useful. And, the public agency in charge of the project should be able to provide that information as well. Unfortunately, however, those wage rates aren't widely published. For information on California prevailing wage rates, you can make an inquiry here: Director's General Prevailing Wage Determinations. For federal prevailing wage rates, contacting the US Dept. of Labor's Wage and Hour Division should be helpful (or, they could at least point you in the right direction). Finally, keep in mind that if you're looking to take on more prevailing wage jobs, it might be a good idea to get some help with compliance - like from eBacon or ContractorsPrevailingWage.com. I hope this information has been at least somewhat helpful, and good luck on the project!
