properly identify yourself (as the lien claimant)

ConnecticutMechanics Lien
Anonymous General Contractor

I am the owner of my own company. We file with the Secretary of CT State yearly. On a mechanic's lien, how would I correctly identify myself as the claimant? Just want to make sure I do it correctly. Thank you

It's important to ensure that all of the information on a mechanics lien is as accurate as possible. Identifying yourself may seem like a gimme section to fill out, but it can still cause complications. Lien claimants misidentifying themselves is an issue that's actually reached Connecticut courts. If a claimant is filing on behalf of a company, such as an LLC, the full legal company name should be listed as the lien claimant. Since that's the party that contracted the work in the first place. The company owner or authorized agent's name will be provided in the signature box at the end of the lien claim. You may find this article helpful: The 4 Worst Mechanics Lien Mistakes
