The release of a filed Texas mechanics lien is governed by Tex Prop Code §53-132. This statute provides that once the debt has been satisfied, it must be released within 10 days of receipt of a written request for release. Therefore, technically speaking, the claimant isn't obligated to release the claim until they've received a request to do so.
However, it's best business practices to go ahead and release it once you've been paid. Besides, they will likely request the release eventually. The release process is relatively the same as the filing process. Just execute, notarize, and file a Texas Lien Release form with the county clerk's office where the lien was filed.
