When working on a large commercial projects, subs will submit pay applications to their general contractors. The general contractor then checks the subs work before submitting pay app to the owner. Every general contractor will have their own process for reviewing pay apps. Plus, the attention needed could depend on a large number of factors - like how comfortable they are with the sub, whether they're using software to assist the process, the turnaround time needed to get paid on time, etc. So, it's hard to pin down a specific amount of time they'll spend review their subs' pay apps. With that being said, one of these construction business consultants or construction finance professionals would likely have more experience in reviewing pay apps. So, reaching out to one of them for a ballpark figure could help to get a better idea of what's standard.
