Florida and New York do not have a reciprocity agreement where a New York contractor's license will be valid in Florida, or where having a New York license will expedite the potential for obtaining a Florida contractor's license. So, for a New York contractor, it might be easier to remain involved in a Florida construction project by serving as a consultant, advisor, or project manager - helping direct work, and to some very limited degree, helping perform some work functions that don't require licensure.
For more background on what work requires licensure in Florida, here's a helpful resource: Florida Contractor’s License: Requirements, Exceptions, and Penalties.
