Do Utah Prompt Payment Laws, cover those of us in service industries?

I own a Wastewater Management company. We clean grease traps and septic tanks. Sometimes people refuse to pay. Do the prompt payment laws cover the service industries?

Generally, Utah's prompt payment laws only apply to those in the construction industry. So, if construction work or construction-related activities aren't being performed, there's a strong chance that the services provided would not fall under Utah's prompt payment laws. However, there is some leniency involved - and those who perform required maintenance "of a building, structure, highway, appurtenance, appliance, or other improvements to real property" may be entitled to prompt payment under Utah Code § 13-8-5. So, there's an argument that maintaining wastewater systems would fall under Utah's prompt payment laws. For additional clarity, it might be helpful to reach out to a Utah construction attorney. They'd likely be more familiar with the ins and outs of the state's prompt payment laws.
