Can you help me to put a lien against a construction project for no payemnt to subcontractors?

District of ColumbiaMechanics Lien

We are a small sub contractor working on a large project. We did part of the concrete scope of work, the GC set us a side with no payemnt for the job performed and continue the job with other sub contractor. We have a balance over $150,000 for the cost of the job performed and we have tried to work things out with the GC but they don't have the minimum intention to pay.

The deadline to file a mechanics lien in Washington DC is 90 days from the completion of the project. Levelset can absolutely help you with the lien filing process, just head over to our Document Creator and fill out as much project information as you can. However, if there's still some time before your filing deadline, we do have an optional step that we recommend; sending a Notice of Intent to Lien. This isn't a required notice, rather a simple letter stating that if you aren't paid within 10 days of receipt of the notice, you are ready and willing to file a lien against the property. The mere threat of a lien is typically enough to get the owner's attention and put the pressure on the GC to resolve the payment dispute. If not, you should likely proceed with the lien filing.
