In Connecticut, a mechanics lien must be filed within 90 days of the lien claimant's last furnishing date. And, once this deadline passes, a valid and enforceable mechanics lien can no longer be filed.
The deadline to enforce a Connecticut mechanics lien, on the other hand, is one year from the date the mechanics lien was recorded. So, usually, by the time a Connecticut mechanics lien expires - the deadline to file a lien is long gone.
However, if there was a situation where work continued for a year after the original lien filing, then, conceivably, there could be a situation where a claimant could release their originally filed lien and file a new lien.
