Can a general contractor file a lien if there was no written agreement for a price?

We have a general contractor who never gave us a price for putting up our siding and he have three different quotes saying it is a $4,000-5,000 dollar job and he’s trying to charge us 10,000

No. A lien requires a written contract on a residential project. MCL 570.1114
