Why would I not be able to get prevailing wage?

New JerseyPrevailing Wages

I was categorized by a union rep from the local 77 into the laborers union, working non union everyday for 6 month spans on site. But I was on a privately funded hospital.

Generally, prevailing wages will only be available for federal projects and public works jobs. So, if a project is private in nature, then that job will quite likely not be subject to prevailing wage requirements. With that being said, I'm no expert on New Jersey's prevailing wage laws. It could be helpful to reach out to your customer or to the owner or agency in charge of the job to see if prevailing wages are being paid on the job and whether they should be. And, if you think you should be getting paid prevailing wages, then it may be helpful to consult with a local New Jersey prevailing wage expert or to make a prevailing wage complaint.
