Why is everyone else being paid prevailing wages except us?

OhioPrevailing Wages

I’m working on a county airport and every trade but the electricians are getting paid prevailing wages and we are not! I thought that the county airport is ran by the county which I would assume it is not a privately owned airport. So I think I need to investigate bc I don’t think it’s right

In Ohio, prevailing wages must be paid on most public works projects. However, there are monetary thresholds that must be met in order for prevailing wage requirements to be triggered. Specifically, Ohio's prevailing wage requirements will apply to the following jobs when wholly or partially financed with public funds: - For new construction, generally, if the project exceeds $250,000 - For reconstruction, enlargement, alteration, repair, remodeling, renovation, or painting, generally, if the project exceeds $75,000 - For new construction of roads, streets, alleys, sewers, ditches, and other jobs involving bridge or road construction exceeding $84,314 - For reconstruction, enlargement, alteration, repair, remodeling, renovation, or painting of roads, streets, alleys, sewers, ditches, and other jobs involving bridge or road construction exceeding $25,261 For a thorough breakdown of those thresholds, the Ohio Department of Commerce has an excellent breakdown: Prevailing Wage Contractor Responsibilities.

What to do if you think you should be receiving prevailing wages, but arent

If you think your job should be paying prevailing wages, it might be helpful to reach out to your customer and/or the project's prime contractor to clarify whether the job is a prevailing wage job. Or, reaching out to the county agency overseeing the project could be helpful there too. Ultimately, if prevailing wages should be being paid, but aren't, you can file a complaint here: Ohio Prevailing Wage Complaints.
