Does the builder get paid in advance for a change order or after the builder completes the change for the agreed price?

The answer depends entirely on the contract between the owner and builder. In some scenarios the builder may be paid in advance. However, the more common approach is for the builder to be paid after the work is complete, or on a schedule after portions of the work are complete.
