I filed a lien on one of my customers and they still have not paid. What can I do to get paid?
That's a great question, and one we get very frequently in the expert center. Fortunately, Levelset supplies a post that explores 4 steps to take after you file a mechanics lien. To give you a quick overview, you may proceed with the following steps once your mechanic lien has been filed:
1. Send a copy of the mechanics lien to everyone
2. Communicate with the person that is most likely to pay & call the property owner
3. Send a Notice of Intent to Foreclose
4. File a foreclosure lawsuit
If your phone calls or emails have been ignored and don't elicit payment or a payment plan, it is time that you escalate the claim. You may proceed by sending a Notice of Intent to Foreclose which will serve as the final warning that you are willing to enforce a foreclosure suit.
I hope that helps!
