A contractor's lien is valid for one year and must be enforced (i.e., suit filed) within that one year. At any time during that year the owner can file a Notice of Contest of Lien which shortens the time the contractor has to enforce his lien from one year to 60 days from the date the Notice of Contest of Lien is served upon the contractor by the owner.
