If it is a privately owned project, and you have a contract directly with the GC, then you need to send a notice letter to secure your lien rights, followed by your lien. Both of these documents are very technical, and the timing is absoltuly crucial. I cannot recommend strongly enough reaching out to a service or attorney to assist you in securing your lien rights.

THE NOTICE LETTER DEADLINES OCCUR ON THE 15TH, so I recomend taking some time today to get this issue sorted out.

Feel free to reach me directly if you would like to discuss your claim further.
