How do I file a lein

MichiganConstruction Contract
Christian Rogers

I am doing a roof for a investment company. I have an original contract signed. Upon starting I realized a change order was needed. The investment company verbally agreed over the phone an paid for the extra material. Now he don’t wanna pay after the job was finished

First change orders should always be in writing. In this case, an up front payment of that extra amount for materials is potentially enough proof. Even a text with relevant information before payment would be better. Second, you need to ACTUALLY FILE THE LIEN WITHIN 90 DAYS OF YOUR LAST DATE OF WORK AT THE SITE. No exceptions. If you don't file the lien timely you loose your lien rights (because its arguably void). If you do not know how to file a lien contact a legal professional.
