Can you help me foreclose on a lien?

New JerseyLien Foreclosure

I own a plumbing business and have filed a lien on a persons property. It has come time to foreclose, by 4/28/2021. I am located in Gloucester County, NJ.

You will need to file a complaint to enforce the lien. Assuming the property against whom you filed the lien is residential, there are a couple extra steps you have to take in NJ. Since it's a lien, you get one shot at enforcing it. If the claim is dismissed for a procedural deficiency, you will lose the lien. I suggest you speak to a lawyer for assistance unless the value of the lien is too small to make the cost of chasing it worth that investment.

I second Mr. Quinter's recommendation that you should consult with a NJ attorney who understands NJ construction law. Liens are a great tool for contractors and suppliers, so you do not want to lose the value of your filed lien claim by simply allowing it to expire.
