Can we be sued for “damages” after a lien is removed?

Alabama

We have filed a lien for a customer who didn’t finish paying us for a cost plus job. Now they have given us a deadline of today to remove the lien or they will sue us.

What is the basis for the ownet asking for the lien to be removed?

They are claiming their “damages” are more than the amount owed to us. Damages to include: unreturnable cedar posts that were delivered after they decided to not use them, paint touch up, drywall repairs due to owner not wanting to add under cabinet lights and moved kitchen island. Nothing due to contractor negligence. All cosmetic.

They are not claiming a procedural defect with the lien it seems. You would know best based on the quality of work performed. Happy to look into it further. Mmontiel@montielhodge.com
