Individuals are generally able to represent themselves in court. So, if the claimant on the lien is an individual/sole proprietorshp, and not some other business entity, then it may be possible for the claimant to represent themselves in court. So, in that instance, that self-enforcing or foreclosing upon the lien might be possible without a lawyer. But, if the claimant on the lien is actually business entity, and not an individual or sole proprietorship, then a lawyer would be necessary to enforce the lien claim.

Regardless, it's not a good idea to go to court without a lawyer representing your interests - even when it might legally be allowable.
