Can I file a mechanics lien?

I’m a sub subcontractor, the subcontractor owes me 30,000 in hours and expenses. My dad and I work for the same subcontractor we do different jobs. As I’m waiting to be paid As he keeps putting me off saying he still doesn’t have the money, he calls my dad instead who does not read English in to pick up a check and cashed it. the check is of 3000 and was written with” pd in full”. Now the subcontractor is saying that I have already been paid in full, when I’m still owed over 30,000. Do I fight this with a mechanics lien? What steps can I take? We work commercial demolition.
