Wisconsin's construction lien law controls rights, requirements, and remedies for asserting a lien. A "lien claimant" means "any person who claims a lien under this section [Wis. Stat. Sec. 779.01] pursuant to a contract for improvement to land entered into by an owner of the land." "Improve" or "improvement" includes "tiling" . . . "which is built, erected, made or done on or to land for its benefit." Among other important details is whether the lien claimant is a prime contractor. Each situation is a case-by-case determination. You may contact me in WI at 715-573-2077 to discuss the details of your situation.

Possibly. An attorney familiar with the mechanics’ lien law in Wisconsin will need many more details about the project before giving an answer on which the contractor can rely.
