If you want to simply walk of the job, you could subject yourself to a breach of contract claim, you must cover yourself in writing first. If there is a written contract, you must follow the procedures set forth therein, it's possible to still get paid, but not such a simple answer. Speak to a construction lawyer, this one should be simple, but more information is needed.
