I work for a company that maintains natural gas compressors for Orange County Transit Authority, and Los Angeles Unified School District. These operate on public funds. Am I due prevailing wage. I am a compressor mechanic.
It does appear that some maintenance contracts on public works projects will require prevailing wages. However, I'll admit that I don't have a ton of expertise on the specific details or requirements that might play into whether prevailing wages will be required on a particular job.
For clarity there, it might be helpful to discuss the matter with your employer. Or, if you suspect you aren't being paid what you're owed, it could be helpful to seek out a local labor lawyer familiar with California's prevailing wage requirements.
