Some of us contractors are tired of bidding against unlicensed contractors
GeorgiaI am not getting payed for work performed until contractor gets payed but we signed a contract of getting payed every other week they are like 3 months behind but I also signed a non compete form so when he changed the way we got payed did he void the contract being he changed the way it was set up ?
TexasWith everything going on these days I'd hit Financial hard times and I had asked a friend of mine if I could rent their RV. We Came Upon of an agreement that I could stay in their RV for $400 a month and 4 payment of that $400 a month I was too repair the RV it maintenance and upkeep to the RV and yard. Anyting over that $400 a month he would reimburse me for whether it be supplies materials or anything else needed to establish the upkeep and maintenance of the RV and yard. And now they are refusing to pay me for my labor and supply cost that I have had to put into the maintenance and upkeep to the RV and yard. And since I moved in to the RV March of 2021 I have put in approximately 8 to 10000 dollars into labor cost and materials and he is refusing 2 pay me the difference and is trying to say I owe him money for staying here in his RV is this something that I can file a contractor or mechanics lien on?
OklahomaI am the contractor, work was completed mid February but the client has been making payments. They stopped making payments in early June.
TexasA construction contractor wants me to open mechanics lien on my house, while I have paid them full.
They are just stupid and have internal issues, and want to use me to resolve their financial frictions. I am sure that I win the court becasue I have paid them full, but meanwhile I am concerned they can put hold on my house before the court. Please advise.

CaliforniaI have a proposal to have a swamp cooler installed and ductwork installed which I signed, but there is no price in the proposal, nor was there any verbal price discussed. The price came in at $7, 500 plus. I cannot afford it. The contractor didn’t inform me directly of the$3,300 increase— and I didn’t hear anything from him for over a week He left me a voice message, saying the contract would be on the Lowe’s website. ColoradoMy understanding is that I have 21 days from the moment I break ground to file a pre-lien. If a pre-lien is not filed that I am unable to file a mechanics lien later down the road. So basically, within the first 3 weeks of starting a new project, I must file a pre-lien in order to protect my rights as a contractor if I was to ever want to move forward with an actual lien? I just wanted to verify that this information is correct and I'm nto misunderstanding any part of it?

CaliforniaWe contracted with a fence builder to build our fence. We sent them $3992. with the balance due upon completion. It was supposed to be started the middle of June. I have called, emailed and went by their office. No one there, doors locked. What steps do I take to get our deposit back. This is Superior Fence in Cumming, GA.

GeorgiaDo I have any right to ask clients not to go on their land (custom home build) during certain hours?
I am a Contractor building a custom home for clients who own the land. Clients are constantly harassing trades while working during working hours. Bringing their children along with several belongings that they leave at the job, expecting my team to be responsible for protecting their things. They are aware we are dealing with delays on exterior locking doors. Can I implement anything now, can I change my contract to state any guidelines in the future on these issues? I don’t know what I can do since they own the land.

My company entered into a sub-contract with the main contractor on back to back basis. The scope of work involved construction of about 100 small and big industrial buildings spread over a distance of about 200 K. M. The basic drawings were to be provided by the contractor. Our scope was to design these buildings including Structural design. The contractor was to provide the requisite inputs of its electrical and mechanical Equipments to be installed in these buildings so that the final drawings can be submitted by us. The contractor also has to provide us the encimbrance free construction sites for us to do the topographic and geotechnical surveys needed for completion of our design. The contractor was to get the same from the Employer.
We submitted all the required Preliminary Drawings for approvals to start final design and got some of the Preliminary drawings approved by the contractor which changed the approved drawings thrice. The contractor failed to provide us the encumbrance free sites for us to start any survey work and couldn’t provide us the inputs required for finalisation of our design
When we submitted our claim the contractor terminated our contract on the basis of nonperformance and encashed our Bank Guarantees. On the other side the contractor has filed an Arbitration with the employer on the same grounds of delays which we were pressing and claimed a huge amount from the Employer. We are now in the Arbitration process with the contractor and besides all the genuin delays have also submitted the Arbitration records of the Contractor with the employer. The Emploer had earlier agreed that there was a delay of 192 days against the claimed 448 days by the Contractor.
The time of the completion was 18 months for us.
What is the chance for us to win this Arbitration battle?

If a contractor signed a contract where he's responsible for the design and permitting process (for work both within the envelope of the house as well as outside - deck construction) as well as carrying out the work, back in June 2019, only submitted the permit applications to the city in Dec' 2019, and only now received the permits from the city, can he rightfully blame this on COVID and therefore ask the client for more money than specified in the contract due to the increases in construction costs?
