How do I file a Mechanics Lien?

GeorgiaConstruction ContractLien DeadlinesMechanics LienNotice of Intent to LienPreliminary Notice

We contracted with a fence builder to build our fence. We sent them $3992. with the balance due upon completion. It was supposed to be started the middle of June. I have called, emailed and went by their office. No one there, doors locked. What steps do I take to get our deposit back. This is Superior Fence in Cumming, GA. Thankyou Kathy Milstead

Kathy, knowing little information other than what you provided, I think it makes the most sense to try and locate their main office and/or registered agent. (It sounds like you may have already located their main office.) Sending them a letter requesting repayment via certified mail is a good way to make ensure the letter was received. Ultimately, if you get no answer, I would recommend consulting with an attorney to file a lawsuit seeking repayment. At that point, you would have made reasonable efforts to contact the company with no response.
