I filed a mechanic's lien and all the correct paperwork but missed the deadline for filing the nonpayment because I thought we were good for a year now. Hello, I have a client that purchased a painting business this year with a large job currently in progress. There were never pre approved signed change orders however since July my client (subcontractor) has completed $200k in work in change orders. They are refusing to make payment without material invoices with the amount and our costs directly from our supplier. Obviously then exposing intellectual capital and now also is demanding these for all change orders by end of business day today or “they will not be paid and we will not discuss these again” What can we do? They are charging chargebacks on everything they can and now refusing to pay on any of the 32 outstanding change orders on this job....Read More

We are replacing two sliding doors in our home. The window company filed a NOC in March for the job. We are paying cash for the doors. We have no idea when the doors will arrive and be installed at this time. We currently are applying for a home equity loan to renovate a bathroom. Our credit union will not process the loan until the NOC is removed. Is there any way around this since we never borrowed money for the doors?...Read More
