Can a general Contractor require that i waive my lien rights in order to get the job?

Florida

A General Contractor is requiring that I waive my lien and indemnity rights in order to give me the job. Is there a way that I can protect myself to get paid and be able to hold someone liable for negligence.

The language of a waiver of negligence in advance is very important so I cannot address that part of your question. As for the lien waiver part, section 713.20, Florida's Construction Lien Law provides: (2) A right to claim a lien may not be waived in advance. A lien right may be waived only to the extent of labor, services, or materials furnished. Any waiver of a right to claim a lien that is made in advance is unenforceable.
