Maryland
Anonymous Subcontractor

Hello, I am a state licensed HVAC contractor working as a sub in Maryland for a roofing contractor. I was hired to coordinate with te rooferse 2 heat pumps installed in the attick. The job is now complete and the contracor tells me that the insurance claim did not go through and he can not pay me the balance owed. What can I do? Can I file a mechanics lien?

You can file a mechanic's lien in this case provided that you are within the appropriate time frame (180 days from the date you last provided materials or labor). Make sure to follow all the proper procedure (such as sending timely notice of the lien) to ensure you are filing correctly or work with an attorney that can help you handle this.
