Do I need to hire a lawyer or is this something that is done through levelset?

You will need a construction attorney to evaluate your claim and to determine if your claim is proper, and to determine whether you have other options for securing your claim perhaps through a mechanic's lien. You could be entitled to Prompt Payment Act interest (perhaps at the rate of 18% per annum), or other statutory or legal damages. If your claim is less than $20,000, you can take a chance in small claims court. Good luck.

Hello,

Enforcement of your claim is a lawsuit.

If you are trying to enforce/foreclose on a lien, the proper venue is District Court regardless of the amount. Other claims for breaches of contract, violations of the prompt payment act, promissory estoppel or quantum meruit, etc. can be enforced in small claims court (if you want to go that route) or County/District Court. Small claims court, you can represent yourself. County/District courts require attorney representation by law if you are suing as your company.

Levelset itself does not do claim enforcement HOWEVER Levelset does have a program that has attorneys on standby. Feel free to contact them about the program. I am one of the attorneys that has made an agreement with them to provide services for Levelset customers (under my own firm and pricing, of course).

I am an attorney but I am not your attorney... yet. The information provided here does not create an attorney/client relationship.
