Should I need to wait?

MassachusettsMechanics Lien
Anonymous Contractor

I was hired by a contractor to provide service including labor and materials. And when I sent in invoice, he said he'll get me a check next week. When that failed to happen, I reached back out. And he gave me all these excuses of how there was a deposit put down on the property and they couldn't volleys the last check. So now he says he "promises" me that I'll get paid after they close on the house. Should I need to wait for closing??

It is a business decision as to whether you choose to wait until the closing (or after) to obtain payment. You may want to consider placing a mechanic's lien on the project prior to the closing to protect your right to payment.
