I quoted some paint jobs for a client, and they paid the deposit for the two jobs. The first paint job took longer than expected and at the end of the he job, the client asked us to stop working. This particular project took 2 to 3 coats of paint to get a good coverage. Not sure how I should charge. The client accepted my bid but I think those terms have been compromised since we were asked to stop? So instead of the original price we agreed on, should we now charge the actual costs for that job or just the original invoice?

Give my office a call for a free consult, as I think we need more facts to assess what is fully going on here. 260-782-1712. Is this commercial or residential? If you are the general you have 60 days from last date of furnishing materials to file a lien. If residential, is the contract price over $150? If so your contract has to comply with the Home Improvement Contract Act. If it does not, you could be exposed to 3x damages and attorney's fees for the non compliance. There are a number of very specific timeframes that need to be followed under the 3 or 4 statutes that could apply here. We look forward to speaking with you.
