We have completed the work around first week of January 2022 on an ADU remodel and an invoice has been sent. The city inspector has made request for customer's house electrical panel to be upgraded to 100 amps and a second panel for the ADU up to 60 amps after we completed work and passed all inspections including. I feel this is a separate work order and has nothing to do with the previous work we have done as client needs to hire a licensed electrician. I need to know my legal rights as not to be part of the inspector's request on the required electrical panels as client has been trying to include this within our scope of work.
It depends on the original scope of work you agreed to perform.
If the 100 amp breaker for the house and the 60 amp breaker for the ADU were not specified in your contract scope of work, it appears that you should be able to claim this work as an extra for which you are entitled to additional compensation.
Good morning ! Again, this same client has been saying that the electrical upgrade of 100 amps to main house and 60 to the ADU of which was not in the original contract (requested upon final inspection by inspector) is considered as a contingency. Since this is an upgrade by inspection, I feel that it is NOT part of the contingency and is considered as extra work order ? Thanks !
