If a house is in escrow is it too late to file a lien?

California
Anonymous General Contractor

We are the GC on a project for a homebuilder. They have terms with us but have not paid their most recent invoices and have become unresponsive. When we drove by one of the house there is now a sold sign on it. Assuming the house is currently in escrow, is it too late to file a mechanics lien?

Depends upon how long ago the prime contractor finished the project. Contact a construction law attorney as the facts in your particular matter may impact how you should proceed.
