i need information on liening a property in new jersey

I sold Rebar to a contractor for a job in New Jersey. How can i lien this job and how do i find out if it started?

It depends on if the job was commercial or residential. If commercial, you can lien the job within 90 days of your last date of work (i.e. the day you supplied the last batch of rebar). If residential, then you have 60 days from your last date of work to file a Notice of Unpaid Balance and Right to File a Lien. Within 10 days after that, you must demand an arbitration hearing and the arbitrator will determine if you can ultimately file the residential lien.

Also, you must be within the contractual chain of the owner, and at least be a supplier to a subcontractor on the job. If you are a supplier to a sub-subcontractor, then you may not have lien rights in NJ.
