The simple answer is, yes Minnesota subcontractors and suppliers must serve preliminary notice. However, Minnesota has some exceptions that need to be considered.
Preliminary notice for subcontractors, suppliers, and other down-the-chain parties must be served either personally or by certified mail within 45 days of the first furnishing of labor or materials. You can download a Minnesota Preliminary Notice form here.
