How do we move forward when a customer doesn't pay and has sold their property?

TexasNotice of Intent to LienPreliminary Notice

We recently did work (Texas) for a customer who has stopped responding to us. He's made a partial payment on a project we completed but still owes about $800. The work is complete and quality is not disputed. He has since sold the house and we don't know his whereabouts. Do we continue to send notices to his former address?

If you filed a mechanic's lien (and did so properly and legitimately), the lien would still attach to the property.

But you should consider filing suit in small claims court against your customer, using your invoice(s), accountings, and photographs of your completed work, and anything else that supports your position.

Good luck.
