Finished a house remodel 2 months ago, now client/owner has refused to pay remaining balance and also has stopped answering my calls or text messages

Well first, I'm sorry that's the case. That's very tough on a business, but unforturnley also very common in my experience. If you completed the work approximtely two months ago, you are nearing your deadline to send requesite notice(s) to secure a statutory lien. You may also have constitutional lien rights avaialble to you depending on if the project documents satisfies the requirements to overcome any homestead protections the homeowner may have.

Regardless of the lien situation, you have other legal claims you can make which you may want to investigate with an attorney. Sometimes a demand letter can be effective in getting the ball rolling regarding payment, but other times more effort is required.
