A person who provides labor on a construction project has the right to be paid. If you are properly licensed you can file your claim of lien within 90 days of the last time you provided labor on the project. If you miss the deadline to file a lien, you can still sue (in this case, in small claims court). But, in order to get paid on residential projects, you need a written agreement and proper licensing (if required).
