AS A GENERAL CONTRACTOR DO I NEED A NEW COI FOR EACH JOB IF I AM USING THE SAME TRADES ON DIFFERENT JOBS
Thanks for asking this question faced often by other GCs. Generally, it is a good idea to check contract details for COI requirements and, if necessary, revisit one's relationship with the contracting party if a conversation is needed regarding the practicalities of issuing a COI for each job with the same party or for the same project but different jobs. Certificates of insurance and other administrative requirements are often included in contracts without any scrutiny as to the consequential operational integration or administrative burden imposed on scaling business operations. As a general proposition, it is a good idea to review all contract details (because the profit is in the details) and address operational or administrative burdens before finalizing the contract terms, and if a contract already exists, the circumstances and the relationships might warrant having a conversation to explore revisiting, reframing, and revising the contract details.
