We had a water leak which caused mold problems. We filed with the insurance company and the claim was denied. We then hired an insurance adjuster and he recommended a mitigation company. The mitigation company came and started on the mitigation process without our consent but since they've started on the work already, we let them continue to finish it. They told me the insurance company will cover all expenses since it's all necessary work. Mitigation work was completed on March 20th. The owner of the mitigation company sent me the agreement form on May 19 saying I have to sign the agreement forms for them to process with the insurance company. I signed the form. Today, the owner sent me an email stating that I owe him for the mitigation and if I don't pay him, he will put a lien on my property. My claim is still open, the insurance company is still processing the claim. Can he file a lien on my property? Do the 90 days start from the completion of work or when I signed the paper? Thank you very much.
