I moved into a house last year that needed a lot of work and maintenance done. The landlord offered to pay for the materials if I did the work. I did the work with the understanding that I would be able to live here until I was able to buy a house 5-10 years. There are dozens of emails and texts clearly stating this. My landlord has decided to sell the house here in California where we live and profit from the hard work and improvements I made at a great personal and financial sacrifice. Clearly once the house is sold he cannot guarantee my lease here any longer so I want to be paid for my work. How do I file a lien to make that happen.
