Can I file a lien

ColoradoMechanics Lien

I'm a 2nd tier subcontractor doing work for a subcontractor, but I haven't been paid because the subcontractor has not been paid. The subcontractor tells me he is waiting on a change order from the General Contractor so he can invoice for the work.

Generally, if you performed work for the improvement of the property, then you would have the ability to lien that property. Is there some reason not to believe the sub you're working for, or the GC? How long has the delay in payment been? How much are we talking about here?

We are at the end of the job and we have not been paid on several work tickets going back as far as January 2022. The GC keeps making up new rules about what they need in order to process. We supply a signed work ticket and photos, now they want the photos to be in a pdf form when before, we only needed to provide a signed work ticket, then it whent to signed work ticket and photos and now the photos (hundreds of them) need to be in a pdf. They directed all of this work so their signature should be enough.

If open communication doesn't lead to a resolution, you might need to escalate the matter. Contact the project manager or higher-ups within the GC's organization to discuss the issue.
