Can a mechanics lien for non-payment be filed against a homeowner 6 days after the job is complete?

Louisiana

My contractor took 11 months to complete my master bathroom remodel that should've taken less than 2 months. I begged and begged by phone and text for him to send subs to complete my job. My job was small so I assume that's why I was left hanging. Finally, after 11 months of begging, my job is finally complete. The job was completed 6 days ago and I received an email invoice the next day. 9 months ago I paid for half the job when half the work was completed. Now I owe the remaining balance. The contractor threatened to file a lien on my home if I don't pay him in full tomorrow. I will absolutely pay the contractor in full for the job. However, I would like to pay in 2 weeks when I get my paycheck. Can the contractor file a mechanics lien on my home for non-payment just 6 days after the job is complete?
