Additional detail needed to prove validity of lien.

Connecticut

Thank you. Client is going to contest the validity of the lien (he is a lawyer, haha) Is that when I would add more detail? How does that part of the lien work?

Generally, a lien is either:

1. Procedurally invalidated (late, cannot lien for the work, etc.);

2. Facially defective (you made a major mistake on the face of the lien and the lien is discharged); or

3. After foreclosure is sought (lawsuit to foreclose the lien), the "merits of the dispute" are decided by the judge/jury and the "validity of the lien" is put to the test (i.e. you must prove you're owed the money, etc.).
