ColoradoI was a 1099 employee of a contractor on a residential project in PA.
There are still bonus payouts owed to me from the contractor (former employer) that I don't feel confident that I will see.
The balance of the project's payments are what is roughly owed to me.
Can I inform the client to request a final waiver of lien?
PennsylvaniaI am needing to know what kind of form to submit to a client to recover an unpaid labor and service cost for a completed roof replacement. The client has stated he will agree to pay the amount due however he wants something in writing that the amount is paid and will not get a lien on his property.
TexasI am a homeowner who hired a contractor to do some work, after the work is complete and I have fully paid the contractor I find out the plumber a sub of the contractor is owed money. That Sub has now filed a lien on my property. Is he allowed to do that even when he knows the prime contractor has been paid? The sub is also demanding I pay him an extra $200 for his troubles to release the lien, do I have to do that or can I just pay him what he is owed and ask him to release the lien?
North CarolinaWe hired a subcontractor on a construction project for a municipal water utility in Colorado. Their is a payment dispute and they are threatening to lien the property. Our understanding is that this would be a publicly owned property and therefore a lien cannot be filed but did not know how utilities are treated.

PennsylvaniaI have a general contractor who signed a contract with me and breached contract on paying for materials on a job. He is 3 months passed paying out and I sent a Pre-lien notice to him and a copy to the property owner.
Do I have to write the lien out with only him listed ,or the property owner? Or do I just make sure that the property owner gets a copy of the lien?
OhioMechanics lien was filed on property after a dispute with living arrangements. The person who filed the lean had a verbal agreement to stay at the residence in exchange for rent. The initial agreement was for three months. After three months the agreement was continued and to be terminated if things were not working our. There was a continued rising tension directly related to James. James was asked to leave he said he did not have to leave but the date this happened was the 27th of November 2021. He finally left two days before 2022 arived at the suggestion by a few law enforcement officials. Once he left he file a Mechanics lien demanding payment for labor and supplies in the amount of 5K. I am asking for the person who owns the property as she gets into the weeds to much about this topic. So I am asking do we even bother asking for a lien release as there is nothing to ask for as the agreement stating work, supplies, for rent was in effect for the periods he is demanding payment. James clearly knows this or is really ignorant about the law in Colorado. So do we just file a petition to vacate with the court or send a demand letter to James.

CaliforniaI’m a hourly employee and I was given a company truck and trailer to complete the duty’s that I’m assigned to do. I haven’t been paid for a month and I have $30,000 worth of material already paid for. Can I put a lean on it or hold until I get paid?
CaliforniaI'll try to keep it simple. My son and DIL, who live in CA, and with my influence, purchased an investment house in Portland, OR, 3 years ago - that I use as a part time residence. I reside in a nice basement ADU - which I completed during it's remodel, last year. I hired a one man contractor and paid him the first 2 payments progress payments and withheld the final payment. He did not complete the contract and missed his Nov. 2020 completion deadline - coming to (near) completion in July 2021. I put in the HVAC at my own cost, since he wouldn't. I paid other contractors to correct a few minor things. His contract specifically lists what was expected of him. His reason for missing his deadline was to take on more lucrative jobs (he admitted). I was texting him daily to see if he would show up! He cost me time, anguish, massive depression, and 7 months of lost rent - which was financially devastating!
He filed a mechanics lien on the house on Nov. 24th. I am not on the house title. This is about to become an issue as my son just began the process of doing a cash out refinance. The contractor has 120 days to file a lawsuit to perfect - I believe. I think I need to bond off - which is supposed to be costly (I have yet to look into it). My son has no knowledge of this contractor - but the court would declare me his agent by default. All my son knows is that I am doing improvements - as I have in the past - no specifics.
I think I have to be proactive and file a small claims lawsuit for the $10K court limit. His lien is for $21K.
Do you have any suggestions? Are there any other approaches? I emailed him a goodwill offer of settling for $8000, a few weeks ago.
Google can only get me so far - but at least small claims is familiar and has been a productive resource for me.

OregonI hired a general contractor in late Sept and my project (job) started in Oct. I have made several payments to the general contractor as the job progressed for all the sub contractors work and he has not paid the sub contractors. I have been in conversation with the electrical sub contractor and he wants to put a lien on my property to light a fire under the general contractor. I understand what the lien means for me as the property owner but can not find info on what that means for the general contractor....(My contractor stopped communicating with me and will not answer me for the past 4 weeks.....his work has been less then professional and my contracted job is not complete with zero communication. I am just curious as to what will happen to the general contractor if a lien is placed by a sub contractor on my project

If the Owner sells the property without paying our bills do we still have the right to file lien?

TexasI am located in the state of North Carolina. We are currently living in a home in which we have done a bunch of work to as the owner walked away from the house. Can we file a mechanics lien on the property to get our money back if the property is going into forclosure?
