My sister received a Mechanics lien against her in the mail the other day from a towing company on a car she sold 1 1/2 years ago for $1. The mechanic shop she sold it to turned around and sold it to a used car dealership. It was so long ago they are having a difficult time tracking down the information. What can be done about this mechanics lien. The Tow owner said "dont pay it, it wont go against your credit"... Like I have stupid written all over my face.
Yeah well I hired a contractor in 2017 to reroof my house in metal panels. He completed the work, however soon after I found out that his crew did not bring the right colored screws so they spray painted the screws all over the roof. I have a six year labor warranty and the owner is now saying, after not taking care of this with my repeated asking, that he is only going to repair PART of the panels. Not sure how to deal with this other than to file a complaint with the state. Any suggestions....Read More

Im getting ready to close on a piece of property to a person who leased the property for last 2 years. They entered into a contract with a construction contractor to erect a metal building. The leasing party did not pay them in full. After repeatedly sending invoices, the contractor placed a mechanic's lien on my land approximately 8 months after they performed work on the project. The title company wants to close knowing this lien is on the land, but I'm concerned about the liability of this lien. The contractor's attorney says the lien is valid, and they have also filed suit for payment. ...Read More

Hello i have been trying to get payment from a contractor who hired me to do some work as a subcontractor. I turned in a pay application on 10/22/2020. They said it was good and would process it for payment. On 12/22/2020, which i still have not received payment, i get a call from them saying that i would have to revise my pay application. I believe one of my equipment vendors filed a lien on this project since we have not been able to pay them. I believe they are telling me to revise my pay application to put blame on me for non payment. My question is how long do they have to ask me to revise my pay application? This has been over 2 months and they barely asked me now. And the application is more than correct. I have had so many issues getting paid from them this whole time....Read More
